On July 24th 2014, local directory Yelp turned 10. In honor of breaking into the double digits, they released a new tool called “Yelp Trends.” This tool aggregates all of Yelp’s data from the past ten years. You type keywords into the tool, and it shows you how they have been trending over the last decade. You can select a city and compare keywords to see what’s hot on Yelp right now. Craft beer or craft cocktails? Tacos or Sandwiches? Honda or Ford?
It’s a great way to open up a conversation about local or digital with a client, shows that you are a digital marketing expert, and introduces your customer to cool analysis tool that can help them make decisions about their business. In other words, it’s a win-win.
