Are you at a loss for words wondering what the heck your local business should blog about? Cat got your tongue? Feel like a princess in the tower? You’ve heard all the clichés, yet there you sit, staring at an empty screen. Will you ever write a lucky blog post?
Perhaps you are in charge of your local company blog and already know your job duty includes writing several posts per week. Maybe you are a business owner and decided hiring a professional writer was not it the corporate budget. Whatever your reason, your keyboard has collected dust, and your audience has grown quite tired of the intermission. Here’s how to get inspired right now so nobody has to wait any longer. (Including your boss. Bad idea.)
1. Events and Holidays: The good thing about the celebrated calendar is that there is always something coming up. After Valentine’s Day we had President’s Day, Washington’s birthday, Mardi Gras, and soon it will Be St. Patrick’s Day. You’ve gotta have something to say about that. How about some lucky tips for your readers? Remember, everyone is Irish on St. Patricks’ Day. Erin Go Bragh!
2. FAQ- Another good blog post suggestion is to answer reader questions. People love to ask questions. If you need to garner some action, post a call for inquiries on your social pages. Pick the most interesting topic and make a blog with your reader submission and form your own response.
3. Your Favorite Things- These are a few of my favorite things. People love to read recommendations. Take a look at Oprah’s O List, for example. If you own a hair salon why not list your top products so that local customers know what to consider at their next visit? If you practice in a pediatric office, you might share a list of your favorite at-home remedies for the common cold. (Vicks Vapor Rub on the soles of my feet, with a pair of cuddly socks…)
Rest assured, blogging doesn’t have to have become some long and drawn out process that boggles your mind and causes grief.
The truth is, inspiration has to find you working. So step to it.
May the luck of the Irish be with you.
